I never imagined the path my life would take me down in the years to follow, as I moved from educating children in our public schools to rehabilitating juvenile offenders involved in the criminal justice system. From teacher to Probation Officer, I heard and documented hundreds of stories of youth and their families whether from behind prison walls, in hospitals, homes, offices or schools.
Today my mission has moved to eradicating racism and social injustice that has permeated our systems and manifests in the disproportionality within our school and jails in terms of suspension and expulsion rates, incarceration, institutionalization, health risks, confinement and contact (DMC).
This is accomplished through accessing federal and corporate monies, training our practitioners and equipping our leaders and emerging leaders to exercise their innate given gifts and talents through career training and job placement, advocacy and grant writing, community workshops and seminars with sliding scale fees.
